Tarpon can be targeted throughout the year, but the best fishing for Silver King is from March through July.

Your captain will provide you with all the necessary fishing equipment, but fly fishermen will need to bring their own rods. Live bait is included in the price for all trips.

Enjoy your ride aboard a brand-new 25' conch. It has a maximum cruising speed of 40 knots and can comfortably take up to 4 guests. Fully equipped with navigational electronics, a much-needed thing when you spend your day on the water.

The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary is home to a great variety of amazing creatures. Since 1990, the Sanctuary protects more than 2900 square nautical miles of the Florida Keys coastal and ocean waters.

On your day out with the crew, you'll start off by fishing for live bait, then you will be able to target a range of local species, such as Tarpon and Permit, as well as Cobia, Jack Crevalle, Snapper, Grouper, and Sharks.

Hop aboard a 30’ center console, powered by twin Mercury engines with a maximum cruising speed of 40 mph comes equipped with the latest navigational electronics including GPS and fishfinder, as well as an ice-box and a live bait tank.

Whether you choose to stay closer to shore or venture into deeper waters, you’ll have plenty of targets on your hands. 15 miles out and it’s all about Sailfish, Blackfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo. Explore the nearshore reefs and wrecks instead and you’ll hook into Cobia, Snapper, Barracuda, and Amberjack.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Florida fishing trip without the opportunity to go after Tarpon. Capt. John has you covered during the "Silver King" season and also provides specialized trips catering to landing this famous beast!

Key West is home to a wide range of gorgeous fish species that are just waiting for the right angler to show up and give them a proper fight. Reel Smoker is here to give you just that – Captain John Jr. has fished this area his whole life and is keen to show you the hottest spots and put you on the best bite.

Join him aboard their brand new, 2023  30 center console, made by conch boats at R&R Boatworks. She’s powered by two 450 HP Mercury engines, that allows the boat to travel at a maximum cruising speed of 40 mph She’s spacious and allows for up to 6 anglers to fish in comfort, without tangling lines. A live bait well will keep your bait alive and kicking, so you can just focus on the fishing. If the sun gets a bit too hot, the t-top will provide shade.

Captain John Jackson Jr. will take you after a wide range of excellent fish in this area. You can target Amberjacks, Cobias, Barracuda, Jack Crevalles, Kingfish, Permits, Snappers, Groupers, Sharks, Tarpon, and many other species. To land these big boys you can try several different techniques, like spinning, bottom fishing, and drift fishing, all while using light or heavy tackle. 

The Silver King is one of the stars of the show with Reel Smoker and it can be targeted year-round, however, the best fishing for Tarpon in this area is between March and July.

Live bait is either prepared before you arrive or caught during the trip, but always included in the price. All rods, reels, and tackle needed will be provided by the captain. There’s no minimum age for kids with Reel Smoker and anglers of all ages and skill levels are invited to join them on this exciting fishing adventure!i

Half Day Trip (PM)

This trip will depart at 4:30 PM and fish through the gorgeous Key West sunset. Many different species can be targeted with this trip but the Silver Kings are peaking at sunset. All required equipment will be supplied by the captain.

4 Hour Trip - Sunset Tarpon

This 6-hour trip offers you a choice from targeting a wide range of gorgeous fish such as Cobias, Broomtail, Gag, or Goliath Groupers, Jack Crevalles, Barracuda, Bonefish, Tarpon, Snappers, Kingfish, and others you may run across.

3/4 Day Trip (AM)

This trip is perfect for anglers who can't get enough fishing done in 4 hours. You can target many gorgeous species such as the Goliath, Broomtail, or Gag Grouper, Tarpon, Mangrove and Mutton Snapper, Cobia, Bonefish, Barracuda, Jack Crevalle, or anything else you come across.

3/4 Day Trip (PM)

Departure times for this trip are flexible, contact the captain before arriving to work out the details. This trip allows you target any of the gorgeous species that live in the area like Silver Kings, Groupers, Snappers, Barracuda, Cobias, Jack Crevalles, Kingfish, or others.

Full Day Trip

This trip will take you to the famous Marquesas Keys, where you will target a wide range of exciting species. The Marquesas Keys are located 25 miles west of Key West. Once there you'll fish the shallows and wrecks for  
Tarpon, Permits, Barracuda, and Cobia – just a few species you can target in this bountiful area.

Full Day Trip - Marquesas Keys

This trip is meant to take advantage of peak Tarpon times. You will fish in the morning until the sun gets too hot, when you'll take a break. In the afternoon, around 4:30 PM, you will continue fishing the Silver King through the sunset. This trip is primarily designed around Tarpon, but you can target other species if you wish.
